Sets Of Three
An interesting relationship exists between nucleotides and amino acids. DNA uses four nucleotides (A, C, G, and T) and RNA also uses four nucleotides (A, C, G, and U). Sets of three nucleotides code for amino acids. Since there are sixty-four possible combinations of four nucleotides, the genetic code is said to be redundant. In other words, in most cases more than one codon corresponds to each amino acid.
This video gives a quick overview of the genetic code without providing info about transcription, translation, or the central dogma of molecular biology.
