Es una actriz italiana de cine y televisión, reconocida con diversos galardones como cinco premios David de Donatello (dos de ellos honoríficos), un Globo de Oro y una estrella en el Paseo de la fama de Hollywood. Eterna rival de Sophia Loren, alcanzó tal fama que sería llamada en Italia «La Lollo». Según sus propias declaraciones, se hizo actriz por una serie de casualidades; su vocación inicial eran las artes plásticas, y de hecho sigue practicando la escultura y la fotografía.
Gina fue una de los cuatro hijas de un fabricante de muebles, Giovanni Lollobrigida y su esposa, Giuseppina Mercuri (sus hermanas se llamaban Giuliana, Maria y Fernanda). Pasaron su juventud en una pintoresca villa montañosa de Italia.

Gina was one of the four daughters of a furniture manufacturer, Giovanni Lollobrigida and his wife, Giuseppina Mercuri (her sisters were named Giuliana, Maria and Fernanda). They spent their youth in a picturesque mountain village in Italy.
