Sharpening a Damaged Wood Carving Gouge
Watch as I go through the process of sharpening this wood carving chisel and bring it back into decent condition.
I found this gouge had been damaged, I guess it had been dropped as there was a large chip broken out of the cutting edge. In desperation I dug out this hand grinder (yes the wheel is off centre) and ground the edge back into life then sharpened the chisel to a decent edge.
The old oak seen at the end is very hard and a good test for any woodworking tool.
