Rein Wolfs on ULAY WAS HERE (Online Tour)
Now on view in the Stedelijk Museum: ULAY WAS HERE. Ulay had an impressive solo career before and after his famous collaboration with Marina Abramović. He was a pioneer of Polaroid photography, one of the founders of body art and performance, and was engaged with social and political issues. Ulay pursued a lifelong quest for his identity in artworks invested with a raw, emotional power. He was uncompromising and vulnerable, used his own body in his art, and went to extremes.
