Turning a Stem for a Wine Glass. Beginner Woodturning Projects
When my girlfriend’s favourite wine glass broke, I knew I had to save it or forever be in the bad books LOL. The stem snapped off completely, so I decided to turn a brand-new one from cherry wood on my Harvey T60S wood lathe. Using Easy Wood Tools carbide turning tools, I shaped the stem, sanded it smooth to 400 grit with Klingspor abrasives, and gave it a custom finish.
To decorate, I applied Chestnut Products Ebonising Lacquer, followed by vibrant magenta pearlescent paints from the Jo Sonja range. Finally, I used 5-minute epoxy to attach the glass to the new stem—and it turned out amazing!
