The Thunderbolt 3 adapter converts the camera's stream into Thunderbolt data, which is then transmitted over a single #USB-C cable to your host machine. This streamlined setup allows you to use a Thunderbolt docking station to power all components, ensuring ample bandwidth for even the most demanding multi-camera configurations.
One of Thunderbolt's standout features is its hot-plug capability, enabling you to connect and disconnect devices without interrupting your workflow. The system automatically re-enumerates, so your camera is ready to go without any delays.
In our demo, we used a copper cable to connect the Thunderbolt adapter to the laptop, but for extended distances, optical and hybrid cables can extend the connection up to 50 meters.
With Thunderbolt 3's ability to supply up to 100W of power, you can easily add external power supplies for more demanding setups. This also opens the door to daisy-chaining multiple adapters, creating a cascading interface for even greater flexibility.
