has been two years in the making and was originally planned to launch alongside Phone (1).
“For us at Nothing, the little things matter. A cable is a pure functional product; not many companies are willing to pay attention to make it better,” the company said in the tweet.
Scratch-free, transparent cable
Nothing said its team actually built over 20 design concepts, “many of which were rejected by our partners as it was deemed too difficult to manufacture.”
Nothing says that it has used a transparent shell on a Type-C cable, which meant “we had to ditch traditional dispensing bonding or ultrasonic welding process, and move to an industry-first moulding process to create a seamless iron shell.”
Nothing claims that the cable’s design is “flawless” and free from lines and surface defects.
The cable is actually scratch-free because of the materials Nothing has used to make it. “To achieve this, we have implemented plating techniques such as sandblasting, pre-plating, and electroless plating,” the company said.
The Nothing Cable C-C, as per the company, passed over 25 tests including strict plugging and unplugging, salt spray and current resistance. “We pushed boundaries and went 60% beyond industry standards when it comes to bending, passing our bending test more than 16,000 times,” said Nothing in the tweet.
