QGIS is the leading open source geographic information systems (GIS) software. This video shows you how to create contour lines (aka isolines) representing ancient shorelines. The method discussed here allows you to create ancient shorelines that are submerged today at small scales (aka large areas). Using the article below you could also do this for far older shorelines millions of years ago (e.g., showing ancient seas). This video uses QGIS Latest Release version 3.3.
