Remember that HomePod users must have an iPhone, iPad, or other Apple device to be able to set up the HomePod. Android users, you're out of luck. If you want a smart hub that works for you, check out the Google Home or the Amazon Echo.
Step 1: Place the HomePod 6-12 inches away from any wall or corner - this allows the HomePod to detect the room’s best acoustic direction when you power it on.
Step 2: Plug in the HomePod, a white light should appear when it’s powered on.
Step 3: Hold your unlocked iOS device near the HomePod - a notification will appear on your screen. Tap the “setup” button.
Step 4: Select a room, enable personal requests, and follow any other prompts.
Step 5: (optional) If you’re setting up a 2nd HomePod, you’ll see an option to use your HomePod as a stereo pair. Once you’ve added all the speakers you want, wait for the device to finish the setup process.
