Why do birds not sing in the rain?
During a walk in the forest you have surely listened to the singing of birds. It was probably tits, finches, larks or even swallows that chirped, peeped and trilled loudly.
These songbirds can even make music when they fly. But when it rains, the bird choir suddenly falls silent. And it becomes very quiet in the forest. Because when it rains, the birds lose their desire to fly and also to make music. They prefer to remain quiet as mice.
And they look for a dry spot under the leaves of a tree, in a tree hollow or a nesting box. Because a soaking wet plumage won't keep them warm. And it would also be much harder to fly with it. That's why the birds try to stay as dry as possible. There is also nothing for them to eat when it rains. That's when most of the insects go into hiding. But as soon as the rain is over, the mood of the songbirds rises again. And the forest is again full of singing and chirping. Because then the chance to catch their favorite food is very high. Because after a rain there are especially many earthworms on top of the ground. And they are delicious and easy prey for songbirds.
In a nutshell.: Birds do not like to get wet. Because the wet feathers don't keep them warm properly. And it's also harder to fly with wet feathers.
