TerraWorld's GPU Accelerated Nodes - Real-Time Terrain Generation & Editing in Unity
The next version update for TerraWorld 2023 comes with GPU Accelerated Nodes which unlocks real-time terrain generation and editing via graph nodes which makes the world generation pipeline in TerraWorld much FASTER & EASIER.
FASTER
means instead of calculating filters such as Hydraulic Erosion on terrain which traditionally run on CPU, is now behaving in real-time on GPU and no memory footprint is also left.
EASIER
means you can now see Area Masks on live preview terrain in scene before world generation so that you can simply continue with level designing, and it's not a black box anymore.
You can now preview terrain in 3D and visualize Terrain Shape (heightmap) and Area Masks (mask filters) before graph processing and world generation. It also means all connected nodes to these GPU nodes can get their input in real-time to process further and thanks to parallel GPU processing, world generation time will drastically decrease.
The Live 3D Preview Terrain is linked with Interactive Map, Heightmap processor nodes (e.g. Hydraulic Erosion) and Area Mask nodes (e.g. Slope Filter) and more coming soon.
