Pollinating tomatoes in a greenhouse has its own unique challenges. Even experienced growers often encounter empty clusters, which calls into question the profitability of greenhouse tomato cultivation.
How can this be avoided?
1. Maintain optimal greenhouse weather conditions: temperature, wind, and humidity. The temperature should not fall below 13°C or rise above 30°C. Natural or artificial air flow should be provided to move pollen. Humidity should not exceed 70%.
2. Create conditions for natural fertilization: wind (through ventilation in the greenhouse or fans) or insect pollination. Insect pollination is suitable for large areas (from 800 square meters). Bumblebee pollination increases fruit weight by 10-15%, resulting in uniform, crack-free, and marketable fruits.
3. Artificial insemination
Treatment with preparations (hormones and growth stimulants) such as 36C, Betokson, Tomatoz, Adrop, and Nevirol.
The first treatment should be carried out when 1-2 flowers appear, then regular treatments should be carried out at intervals of 7-8 days.
