Blue Cave, an unseen tourist attraction in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, is located in the area of Tham Phra Monastery. The Blue Cave is open daily for free from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
In the front of the cave hall, there is a reclining Buddha image of Burmese art for us to worship before entering the cave. Notice that at the foot of the Buddha image there is a large white stone that looks like an elephant's head. It looks like there is a white elephant lying down near the Buddha statue. Moreover, the cave hall in this area has beautiful stalactites and has a surface of bluish-gray stone. There are white patterns alternating in lines that look like flowing lines.
The cave hall opposite the reclining Buddha offers visitors a chance to delve deeper into the mesmerizing world of stalagmites and stalactites. As you walk through this hall, you'll be surrounded by these stunning rock formations, each unique in its shape and texture, creating a spectacular natural display.
The walkway inside the Blue Cave is about 100 meters, one way in and out. The distinctive feature of this limestone cave is the long gray and white stripes on the cave walls. It is caused by calcite that sticks in long lines along the cave walls. it is assumed that it may have once been a hall or basin where calcium dissolved water was trapped. Over time, calcium will stick to the cave walls until it forms horizontal stains on the cave walls which added to the strange beauty of this cave.
The colors of the bluish-gray rocks are plastered throughout the caves along the route. Combined with white veins of various minerals. The stones further create the charm of the blue cave, giving it an atmosphere as if it were in a river.
Along the way, we can see the blue-gray surface inside the cave. In some parts, you will see cave holes that have been eroded into round holes, creating dimension to the surface inside the cave.
Towards the end of your journey through the Blue Cave, you'll come across a narrow walkway leading to the final hall. Here, water flows from the cave walls, adding to the cave's mystical ambiance. You'll also find a bright white marble Buddha image enshrined in this area, providing a serene spot for worship and reflection.
