Radial Keratotomy, also known as RK, was a surgery performed in the 1980's and early 90's for the treatment of myopia (near-sightedness). RK flattens the cornea, which allows people to see far away better without glasses or contacts. This procedure was inducted into the museum of ancient ophthalmic surgeries with the advent of Laser Vision Correction, specifically LASIK & PRK. When a patient with previous RK surgery is to undergo cataract surgery, there are many things the Cataract Surgeon needs to take into consideration. In this video, I share my approach.

What is Cataract Surgery?
Within a healthy eye is a clear lens. As we become older, that lens becomes cloudy. The cloudy lens is called a Cataract. In cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens implant.
