Hey everyone! I hope you're doing well. This is an episode that I had to put together quite quickly. I literally only had about 15-20 minutes to record the talking part before having to leave, that being said, this trip to Florence was very special to me. There was so much I would have loved to have said about my time there, the memories I made and even more photographs that are perhaps too personal too share on here (like photos of my italian family and friends for example). Which by the way... Grazie infinitamente a tutti i mie amici che hanno resso questo viaggio una esperienza molto bella ed especiale!

I hope you all enjoyed or I hope you will enjoy the video. A few things that I didn't mention in the video that I would have liked to have gone into more detail about. I only took the x100 original because I typically prefer to shoot with one camera and one lens. I had originally thought about taking the xf10 with me as it also would have been a "perfect" camera for a trip like this. And by "perfect" I mean that it would have worked for me. Even thought the wide tracking autofocus on the xf10 is infinitely faster than the wide tracking on the x100 original, I decided to take the x100 based off of the mere fact that i just love using it. It's not as small as the xf10 but it's small enough, without using lens filters or accessories, to where it'll fit in my jacket pocket and even in my jean pockets (with an obvious bulge thought not uncomfortable at all). I shot every photograph using the single center point autofocus. I would focus and recompose. Just like I do when I shoot my old manual film cameras. I primarily just used the optical viewfinder as I love using it on this camera and the entire experience and process is so enjoyable for me. It really does film like I'm shooting with a film camera at times when using this camera. Lately however, I've been flirting with the idea of zone focusing a bit more. In fact, the last couple of weekends i've been goin gout to practice and I'm starting to get more efficient at it. So when I was editing this video, I thought that perhaps, it could have been beneficial to use at times but in all honesty, getting a blurry shot here and there doesn't bother me much. I've come to learn that no matter what camera I have, new or old, "missing shots" is part of every outing. It comes with the territory as much as my feet hurting after walking for days or getting hungry every couple of hours. It's just the way it is.

As far as Firenze (Florence), I definitely want to go back! I was staying about a three hour train ride from there and if it wasn't for the restrictions that began to go into place shortly after arriving, I probably would have gone back. It's such a romantic and poetic city. So much history and beauty. I specifically remember making the photograph that I used for this video's thumbnail, and as I was there, I was overwhelmed by all kinds of thoughts and feelings. Growing up in Los Angeles as a kid, I would have never imagined that I'd be there. I remember seeing the difference in the architecture and it my entire time there it seemed I had walked into an alternate reality. It was incredible and yet somehow I also felt a sense of nostalgia and pensiveness that was quite heavy. A yearning to complete unfinished endeavors and projects as well as an intense drive to begin and experience new ones. I had a few epiphanies while on that look out and several more in the three days that I visited this amazing and wondrous city.

Have an amazing morning, afternoon or evening and I hope you're all doing well.
