Tuning the 402 Supraphonic
This is not a tutorial. I've got a full kit tuning guide on my channel, but i've had to chance the Evans after it has ALREADY split, I put that thing on the drum in April and it has already broken. Now I'm not saying i'm tickling the drums, but those heads should be suitable for metal drummers and last them a while, whom hit harder and more frequently than me, so I can only think it was a somewhat faulty head. Anyway, I wanted to film myself changing the skin and how I personally would tune the drum in a non-tutorial setting. I think this is much better than the 'remove the ripple' method that most people use for tuning drums. It takes longer to get the knack for it, but the range of different sounds you can just find with it is very valuable, and I demonstrate that in this video with a few different tensions and sounds.
If you have any questions, please ask I can certainly give advice if there's something in this video you're confused by, especially if you're using it as guidance for tuning your snare.
Also, let me know what you think of these Code drum heads. They're a bit cheaper than Evans and Remo but still make the supra sing!
