Yes, the picnic, so popular in the 1950s, can be a winning idea to stand out among so many otherwise identical first dates.
The important thing is to prepare our romantic dinner with care and attention, starting with the choice of colors, tablecloth, and napkins, then the menu, which should be bite-sized, finger food, or in any case easy to handle so as not to embarrass anyone. Also, be careful of mosquitoes and other insects, which are often unwelcome guests at picnics. I recommend always bringing mosquito repellent for your dinners in the park and wet wipes for any need.
Make sure your guest understands that it will be a casual outdoor dinner so they don't dress too elegantly or uncomfortable, with appropriate shoes and a sweater for the evening.
