Hi, my name is Taylor Stoma. I'm a Senior Editor and Media Manager for Launch Media in Baton Rouge, LA. My main job is to sculpt videos into emotional, engaging and a lot of times informative videos for our clients based on their needs.
Hi, my name is Christofer Jeansonne, and I'm Creative Producer at Launch Media. My job is basically to take ideas from clients and to turn them into reality, Some of our larger clients are Microsoft, Tucson Limited, TED, TEDEX, and larger cancer institutions that are regional and national.
So the issue is that one day when we walked into the office to find out that about 64 TB of our clients' data was non accessible. We predominantly use a server or a NAS which contains 8 hard drives. The data is spread out evenly through those, so you can have data loss if more than 2 of those drives. go bad at one time. And our UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) happen to go out, so we were getting some power surges that messed up a few of our hard drives so we needed to recover a lot of stuff. A lot of it was video files, very large video files, and a lot of was other assets that we use in our business: design files, animation files, project files of all types. It was a lot of stuff. Every single clip that we shoot holds an intrinsic value, so our files are what make our company our company. We needed a pretty quick solution.
