Managing to compact nineteen tracks of turbulent pop-rock vibrancy in this albums thirty-minute run-time, it's clear that Philadelphia's Telepathic allows for little headway in their latest LP, "Self Checkout", released in early 2017 via Indiana's Third Uncle Records. With songwriting rooted around a brittle, understated guitar lead, the melodies are promptly supercharged by spectacularly-crafted vocal harmonies that embody the very meaning of the word "earworm", with its non-stop hooks and resplendent melodiousness filling the soundscapes with a tangible sun-baked warmth. Even then, the group occasionally embarks on a tangential sonic voyage to the unknown, inducing the slightest dose of melancholy and psychedelic disassociation in their instrumentation as Telepathic thins their pop-like atmosphere with darkened textural pieces, spilling over the stiffened confines of their usual propulsive performances. It's a wonderful LP.
