Macau Monte Fort is also known as St. Paul's Fortress, Central Fortress or St. Paul's Fortress. The Fort is located on the side of the Ruins of St. Paul's and is one of the main attractions in Macau, China. The fort was built in 1616 during the reign of Emperor Shen Zong of Ming Dynasty, and was originally owned by the Church to protect the clergy in St. Paul's Church from pirates, but was later turned into a military facility. The fort has a large open space with green grass, old trees growing in abundance, and huge steel cannons standing next to it. There are many monuments and historical buildings on the fort, such as the ancient tower on the fort, which was one of the Jesuits' meeting places. The southern European-style bungalow building in the center of the clearing was the office of the weather station.
