Since this ADU has a 6' wrap around porch, we needed 2 "lefts" and 2 "rights" to catch intersecting Rosboro X Beam glulams and land on a 6x6.  I ordered the glulams to run full length 42' to drastically simplifiy labor.  I had asked the "engineer of record" to substitute the SDS version of this ‪@strongtie‬ column cap instead of bolts, again for the labor savings.  Labor costs are through the roof, so we look for ways to save labor.  Sometimes you spend more on materials to save money on labor.  Doesn't always make sense, but it sure did here. Look for "total installed cost" when making decisions. #TheRationalBuilder
