Dr. Sandra Chung, a Harvard graduate in Linguistics, has been studying the CHamoru language for over four decades and was closely involved with the CNMI Chamorro orthography. During my interview with her, I had the opportunity to ask for her insights on various aspects of the CHamoru language. Specifically, I asked about what distinguishes CHamoru from other Austronesian languages, whether CHamoru is a blend of Spanish and creole, whether there are variations in spoken CHamoru across different islands, and the philosophy underlying the orthography used in Guam and the CNMI.

Note on interview
This interviewed took place in 2021 and was suppose to be released that year, but due to an unfortunate external Hard Drive crash, it never came to be. Two years later I stumbled upon the same Hard Drive and decided to open it, which I would have never done in 2021. I noticed the the head was misaligned on the platter, and I moved it to the proper place. I then tested the Hard Drive and voila working as new again. Here is the long awaited interview with Sandra Chung.
