You Are My Starship
As a child of this generation, I'm a huge proponent of 70's R+B and 60's -70's music in general. This song especially, brings me back to my teen years. I probably bought this record from hearing it on WRVR, a 24/7 jazz station in NY that played a wide variety of jazz and was responsible for a good portion of my record collection. And of course .... the bass fill. This was recorded last year but finally finished in time to honor the late, great Michael Henderson who passed away recently. I'm happy to have some good friends on this track. Bernie and I go back to Preacher's in the late 80's. Ty and I met on a plane to Japan and wound up playing there together a few years later where I met Philip Woo. I'm honored to have the legendary Mr. Woo on this track with me. ATN Stadwijk always makes everything sound better than I can imagine, wether mixing or playing keyboards. Thanks also to Gary Haase who recorded Ty's vocals for me. I recorded the bass track (sometime during the Covid lockdown when time was suspended) as best as I could remember without listening to the original, then added guitar and sent it off to Philip in Tokyo and Bernie and Ty in NJ.
