Joseph, pictured in this video, created a smoldering coal using the Bow Drill method of fire, fire by friction.
He carved his fire kit out of the right type of dry wood making it possible to create a burning coal.
Joseph then gathered tinder, fine kindling, from the forest which was dry and could easily be blown into a flame if he was successful in creating a spark.
As you can see in the video, he was successful as his happy smile and the flaming tinder show.
You to can discover the satisfaction of creating fire without a match.
