Long-distance rail service to the Allgäu region almost came to a halt when the signal box in Oberstdorf broke down. As recently as October, it was said to be beyond repair. This would have meant the end of the IC Allgäu and IC Nebelhorn services, both pulled by Class 218 locomotives.
Now, long-distance service to the Allgäu is expected to resume in March 2025. Until then, I recommend the "IC Allgäu in Immenstadt" puzzle to tide you over:
