Christian Dior, the couturier and his double (2010)

1947. Against all odds, in a post-war France reeling from the war, a young designer imposes his vision of women and elegance on the world. Christian Dior quickly becomes a legend. He restores French fashion to the dominant position it held before the conflict.

The man who, in ten years, completely transformed the face of Haute Couture does not, however, fit the usual image of the extroverted and unrestrained fashion designer. Christian Dior is a simple, classic, and seemingly reserved man. He had not planned to become a couturier and was extremely uncomfortable with his socialite alter ego, the dream-maker of high society and head of a major fashion house with more than 900 people dependent on his creations. What, then, were the reasons for his success, his impeccable taste, and his incredible creativity? His childhood in Granville, the image of his mother, and his passion for flowers and architecture were all major influences that ultimately reconciled him with his alter ego, shortly before his untimely death in 1957.
