Houston's first all-Hispanic Homicide Unit the 'Chicano Squad' honored at City Hall
In 1979, the Houston Police Department took a number of bilingual officers and formed a special group who investigated the growing unsolved cases in Houston within the Latino community. Known as the 'Chicano Squad,' the unit operated between 1979 and 2010.
They would receive many commendations and were recently bestowed a special honor at City Hall.
Not only that, but their history is also chronicled in a special two-part docuseries that aired on A&E this fall.
