This is the exact recipe for P.F. Chang's famous Northern Ribs... (okay close enough to exact). A really tasty appetizer on their menu. They use pork side ribs, which often go on sale and make for a really awesome treat if you want to get into a little bit of cooking. I could eat a whole rack of ribs like this, seriously.
Now for the Asian style soup stock this is what I used in the video recipe:
2 quarts of water
6 cloves of fresh garlic
2 whole onions
4 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried red chillies
1 teaspoon of black peppercorns
2 teaspoons of salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
5 dried star anise flowers
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1/2 bunch fresh cilantro
Now if that sounds like way too much bother, then no problem. Just use a powdered chinese wonton soup base and add some Thai blend seasoning - the kind you get from McCormacks or Clubhouse. With a little bit of soy sauce, you'll pretty much have everything covered there.
Now after you take the ribs out of this stock (like the video shows) you're also going to be left with an awesome Asian style soup broth that you can add some noodle and chunky pieces of meat for yet another awesome meal.
