In 2015, Michael received international recognition for his work at Iona PS, and with The Global Classroom Project. He won an Emerging Leader Award from the International Society for Technology Education, and our project came Runner Up in the inaugural ISTE Innovation in Global Collaboration PLN Award 2015.

In March 2011, a chance online connection with Deb Frazier (Ohio, USA) led to his co-founding and leading The Global Classroom Project, a world leading K-12 global education community.

This project helps connect, support, and mentor over 450 teachers from 42 countries as they explore new ways to connect, learn, share, and collaborate globally. Since the foundation, the #globalclassroom community has hosted over 20 K-12 projects, transforming the lives and learning of thousands of students around the world.

As he has become a global education pioneer, he has had the privilege of sharing my story and expertise with teachers around the world, presenting at local, national, and international conferences.

In 2013, these opportunities included the Dinner Keynote for the Science Teachers' Association of Western Australia Conference, and his international presentation debut at the iEARN 2013 Conference in Doha, Qatar, where he ran a 'Global Classroom Workshop' and joined the Social Media Keynote Panel.
