In this tutorial, we walk you through setting up your characters with simple starting stats in the Monster Battle Sandbox, a free project available on the Unity asset store. You can support this project/tutorial series by wishlisting the low poly monster pack also available on the Unity Asset Store.
This project is an extension of content from two courses on Unity's learning platform, and we hope this implementation further enhances your learning. If you have any queries, comments, or suggestions, feel free to join us on Discord.
The video covers various aspects like setting up Capsule Colliders, Rigidbody, and Gizmos, adjusting colliders, and deciding on stopping distance for your characters. We encourage suggestions and point you towards tutorials for additional information.
Then, we focus on Character Stats, creating Monster stats, dealing with the Stat Scriptable Object, Character Info, and managing Spawn Portraits. We introduce a new portrait and then add it to the scriptable object.
After handling the monster stats and base attack stats, we integrate the new stats into the game and address some important transforms. We take you through the Monster State Controller, Animator Conductor, other scripts, and blood effects.
We replicate the steps with a Tiger character, create new prefabs, drop them into the scriptable object, and finally the UI spawner. Then, it's time to hit play and see our characters in action, dealing with any potential glitches along the way, and ensuring smooth transitions between actions.
