Hello everyone! 👋 We've completed the first half of Level 1 in our Korean journey. 👏🏻 In this lesson, we're learning to talk about the past! Now we can say "I went" instead of just "I am going."
📚 What Will You Learn in This Section?
✨ Vocabulary (어휘): 시간 관련 어휘 📅
Words related to time. We can now state the exact date.
Days of the week: The day before yesterday (그제), Yesterday (어제), Today (오늘), Tomorrow (내일), The day after tomorrow (모레).
Weeks/Months/Years: We form phrases like "Last week," "Next year," using the words "Past" (지난), "This" (이번), and "Future" (다음). Dates: 1923년 10월 29일
✨ Grammar (문법): 았/었/였-,ㅂ 동사
🔹Past Tense (-았/었/였-): We learn the "-ed" past tense suffix in Korean. The rules may seem familiar because the 아/어/여 rules we see in the middle form of address also apply here!
Example: To go (가다) → I am going (가요) → I went (갔어요).
Example: To eat (먹다) → I am eating (먹어요) → I ate (먹었어요).
🔹 Irregular Verbs: We examine how verbs ending in "ㅂ" (Irregular Verbs) in Korean change when they take a suffix beginning with a vowel. Rule: The final "ㅂ" is dropped and replaced mostly with "우", sometimes with "오".
Example: 춥다 (Cold) → 추워요 (It is cold).
Example: 돕다 (To help) → 도와요 (I am helping/I will help).
Hint: I explained which verbs have "O" and which have "U" in the video with their formulas!
📝Homework: Try writing a sentence in Korean about what you did last weekend in the comments. 😊👇
Good luck with your studies! 파이팅! 💪🇰🇷
