Here I break down a few methods I utilized in a grade I created for a Jeep spec ad. I used power windows to isolate the dirt road in many clips to reduce contrast and lighten it so the vehicle would stand out better. I also exhibit some of the ways I sculpt the lighting to enhance contours and shadows so the shape and details of the Jeep are more pronounced and clear. I even used some small precise selections to keep the vehicle brand logos crisply defined.
Ultimately, my job as a colorist is to enhance the purpose of each shot in a project. I work hard to meet the needs of my clients and deliver quality results they're excited about. Color grading is a transformative process to develop images so they pull the audience into the work as effectively and meaningfully as the storyteller intends.
