In Muslim societies, LGBTQ+ individuals are as common as elsewhere, but religious beliefs often view LGBTQ+ identities as sinful, forcing many to hide their true selves. Those who come out face harsh discrimination and limited acceptance.
Some, not wanting to disappoint their families, seek ways to change their identity. One individual, convinced by a Christian church that God could "cure" his homosexuality, converted to Christianity. After 10 years, he found that he couldn’t change his orientation, leading to a life of stress and depression.
Religious laws and societal values create significant barriers for LGBTQ+ individuals in these societies.
