In this video I show you plants that come up on their own from the compost used in hugelkultur raised beds. My compost doesn’t have time to decompose completely before I use it each year. As a consequence, there are lots of surprises as all sorts of plants establish themselves in the raised beds.
Free plants means transplanting those plants that come up without having planted them. In this case, squashes came up in a raised bed I was preparing for, well, squashes ! I have enough tomato plants from the compost layers that I will soon run out of planting space !
