How to Remove a Sliding Glass Door
After working for many years as a professional door removal contractor, I decided to make a video showing how to remove a sliding glass door. In other words, I show step by step instructions on how to remove a sliding glass door safely and efficiently. Here are the main steps.
1. Wear protective clothing such as goggles, gloves, steel toe boots, a hard hat, a long sleeve shirt and pants.
2. Consider putting duct tape over the glass so the glass cannot shatter.
3. Consider having a helper or putting up safety boards so the door does not fall towards you.
4. . Take what it gives you.
5. . Remove the screws you can easily see first.
6 . Start prying on the fixed panel trim.
7. Remove more screws as you find them.
8. Remove the fixed glass panel and the sliding panel.
9. Remove the exposed screws in the remaining frame after the doors are gone.
10. Save any metal / aluminum so you can sell it at the scrap yard and make money.
11. Save the glass for recycling.
12. Dispose of any weather stripping.
