This video introduces the Virginia Humanities supported project, Mexilachian Son: New Songs from an emerging Virginia Culture. In this video, Lua Project singer Estela Knott describes the origins of the project, an endeavor to blend Appalachian and Mexican folk music, with lyrics inspired by the stories of Latinx immigrants to Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley.
