After an all-new model debut in 2019, one that came with sharper looks and more technology, the 2021 A6 carries on with minor updates. There are two distinct versions available. The base A6 (45) TFSI Quattro gets a power bump, the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system now putting out 261 hp. Also offered is the (55) TFSI Quattro, with a 335-hp, turbocharged 3.0L V6, this one with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, the same as in the A7. A belt alternator starter (BAS) works together with the lithium-ion battery. With this setup, Audi says the A6 can coast between 55 and 160 km/h and the start-stop kicks in right from 22 km/h. During deceleration, the BAS recovers up to 12 kW of energy. Both engines are hooked up to a seven-speed S Tronic automatic transmission. Inside, the A6 has the same two-tier infotainment system as in the A8. The 10.1-inch upper screen looks after all the main functions such as navigation and setup menus, while the smaller 8.6-inch lower screen keys on the climate control and allows multiple shortcuts for the driver’s favorite phone numbers, radio stations or destinations.
