Amazing Dolphin Encounter | Wales, UK
We have a super close encounter with a pod of Risso's dolphins in Anglesey, Wales. Many people don't know UK waters have whales & dolphins and certainly aren't aware how close you can see them from land without the need of heading out on boats! This video shows just how close to shore they actually come, coming with in meters of Nick standing on the rocks!
Risso's dolphins are found all over the UK, we have seen them all the way up north in the Shetland Islands, North East Scotland, West Scotland but our most incredible encounters with these amazing animals always happen in Wales and we by far think it is the best place to see them in the UK.
Risso's dolphins are very distinctive dolphins, with bulbous heads, often appearing completely white in color caused by scarring from interactions with other dolphins and prey species such as squid.
Risso's are often confused with our favourite animal - Orca (Killer Whales) and during this encounter we spoke to someone on the headland who actually thought they had seen orca that morning (it was in fact these guys). They can give off huge blows and have large dorsal fins, not to mention how huge these guys are when you see them up close, in person.
