No Audio in this video, just watch and learn.
Real time video of the process for making beard hairs.
Tips:
Isolate by clicking on the number twice, it will speed up the software, especially for moving sets or deciding colors.
Make use of the mixers to add variations
Roll the dice on the selected set to get the look you want.
Do a colour render pass every so often as it will differ from the preview a little.
The compositing side is really optional and just for demostration, you would put whatever maps you want to use into specific slots of your shader.
Example: Colour would be the Albedo, Normal to Normal Map slot, Depth or Frizz or even a mix of both into Specularity (this means they reflect less light if the tone is darker, the frizz helps the hairs look more realistic), I'd say the gloss or roughness would be a set value, you can optionally render an AO pass and put that into your AO slot. Depending on which engine you are using you will want to channel pack your textures:
Unity (smoothness is the same a glossiness): https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com...
Unreal (I prefer the ORM standard (ao/roughness/metal (R/G/B)) : https://developer.arm.com/documentati.... See this video: • Channel Packing
