The Aga Khan Preschools follow the AKESI (Aga Khan Education Services, India) registered progressive and
research-based pedagogy, Shishu Pahel Padhati (SPP ). SPP is a child-centred pedagogy and literally means
“child first” approach. It encourages children to plan and construct their own learning, thus retaining their
natural self-confidence. The 80:20 principle ensures that children are heard more often in the classrooms
than the teachers.
AKESI, Aga Khan Preschools' parent organisation, functions as a member of the ‘Early Childhood Education
and Development Core Group’ of Gujarat state. AKESI also serves as a resource agency for many
organizations in the ECD field.
