FAWM #4 - Good To Be Home (I'm Feeling Better)
I brew a cup of coffee, pick up my phone
Then time disappears, and the coffee gets cold
I’m anxious as ever, and I’m feeling old
I don’t know where I’m going again
I thought that I made it, I’m finally here
I was whispering dreams to the devil last year
And he granted my wishes, but now that’s it’s clear
I am nowhere and nothing again
But I’m feeling better, and dreaming of old familiar things
I dream of Nebraska, and all of the friends that I wanna see
I walk by the strip malls, and don’t feel a thing
There’s a paraffin sheen to reality
I’m sick of the traffic, all the restaurants are chains
Oh, this neighborhood, oh it’s been killing me
I’m hopeful then hopeless, happy and sad
When I think of the future, I start looking back
I’m hungry for something, I’m lonely at best
Oh, am I burning out like a cigarette?
But I’m feeling better, and dreaming of old familiar things
I dream of Nebraska, and all of the friends that I wanna see
I’ll say it’s good to be home, it’s good to be home, it’s good to be home
