Last year, select members of the gaming media were reportedly given a sneak peek at the successor to the Nintendo Switch during a closed-door event at Gamescom 2023. During this event, journalists were shown an enhanced version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running on the new system, featuring higher framerate and resolution compared to the original 2017 release on the Switch. Initially, it was unclear whether this was an actual upcoming release or just a tech demo to showcase the system's capabilities, which is common for Nintendo.

However, a new leak suggests that this enhanced version will indeed be released. According to a leaker known as Midori, there is a project at Nintendo with the codename "U-King-O." Following this post on Twitter, user Skipper93653 noted that the internal codename for Breath of the Wild was "U-King." Both Midori and Skipper highlighted that Nintendo often adds a suffix to the codenames of ports and remasters when transitioning them to another system. For instance, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker had the codename "Kinopio" on Wii U, "Kinopio-S" on Switch, and "Kinopio-C" on 3DS. If this information is accurate, games ported to Nintendo's Switch successor will use the suffix "-O."
