Italy Under Water! Storm Ciara, flash floods hit Tuscany, Prato and Figline!
Storm Ciaran has claimed five more lives as record-breaking rainfall caused flooding that hit much of Tuscany as Storm Ciaran hit Italy today, trapping residents in their homes, inundating hospitals and overturning cars. Nearly eight inches of rain fell in three hours, flooding the Arno River, and the death toll from the storm in western Europe rose to 12. Dramatic scenes showed at least a dozen cars pushed onto the road at night by a fast, muddy current. There was an unprecedented wave of water bombs, Tuscany Governor Eugenio Giani told Italian news channel Sky TG24 as he tried to describe the heavy rain. He reported the five deaths on social media and posted photos of large inland areas submerged in floodwaters. The Italian government has declared a state of emergency in Tuscany, with an initial allocation of 5 million euros 4,3 million for the worst affected region, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said today.
