Perseverance. Or, Joe's Blackbird. By Edward Slow
Edward Slow (1841-1925) wrote many rhymes and tales of the people about him in the small market town of Wilton, putting in writing the expressions he heard about him in the old and fast disappearing Wiltshire dialect.
This piece is a simple enough tale, and one can suppose that the poor blackbird would have started singing in the spring right enough!
An easy subject to find some lovely blackie images for.
