I have always been fond of the rich tradition and culture of the Gujaratis. From their vibrant, colourful clothes, including their Patola sarees, to their mouth-watering dishes, and the way they celebrate each festival with the right mix of fun and devotion, I have always felt proud of the wide variety of great cultures that exist in our country. And Navaratri is another example of how they celebrate festivals with great energy and fervour.
We all know a lot of famous Gujarati Garba songs that are sung during the Dandiya nights, which are usually upbeat and energetic, and can make anyone dance. Today, I have chosen a different song where we invite the Supreme Goddess to join our celebrations. The song describes how the Goddess comes and joins us in the Dandiya dance. The lyrics are very beautiful and filled with immense devotion.
This song features the Himalayan mountain ranges of Uttarakhand, which brings out the beauty as well as the grandeur of this composition. We felt that this was befitting for the song. While shooting this song, an elderly lady was watching us the whole time from afar. At the end, she came up to me and hugged me. She said she was from Gujarat, and she loved my beautiful voice and the rendition. I felt that the Goddess herself was blessing me through her. It was a touching moment for me.
