Glulam X Beam Column
Since we are balloon framing this house, I decided on a Glulam 6x6 column to extend from the ridge down to the 1st floor walls. This is a @RosboroVideo X Beam Column. Besides being "one and done" this continuous column helps to keep the wall very stiff as we lift it. The rest of this wall are @roseburgforest 2x6 RigidLam 2x6 studs. I have ordered 2x6 24' DF in the past, but they weren't very straight. This house is a lot of tall walls and it makes sense to use LVL for the studs. Much higher stiffness value than DF. The 2.1E fb 3,554, the 1.6E 2,580 and DougFir is about 1,346.
