Five days along the Tavda. We found a secret route to the backwater. Packrafting with a dog.
Hello, friends! This is the first part of our rafting trip down our home river, the Tavda, with a visit to its picturesque and interesting backwaters. This is our test rafting trip before our big summer-fall expedition, the purpose of which is to determine whether we can carry a heavy load, master a new camp kitchen, and practice packraft handling. For this trip, we chose a familiar section of the Tavda River near Tyumen and set off on packrafts with our faithful dog, Mars.
In this episode, we'll travel 35.5 kilometers from the village of Nizhnyaya Tavda to the beautiful and cozy backwater of the Tavda, to which we'll discover a long-forgotten and abandoned route. We'll stop at beautiful beaches and sandbars, break through thickets of willow bushes and grass, set up camp on a beautiful pine-lined bank, and spend two wonderful days fishing, relaxing, cooking new camping dishes, and testing out new gear (tent, carbon fiber paddles, gas stove, camping frying pan, sleeping bag). We'll continue testing Taras's axe and finally try out the water filter we promised you but saved for two years.
In this video, we'll show you the unique features of Tyumen's natural environment: willow thickets, high pine banks, vibrant sunsets, and a huge number of mosquitoes. And as a bonus, we'll include wonderful footage of pike fishing and an unexpected encounter with a beaver, which Taras was lucky enough to capture with a drone.
Besides nature, we'll show and tell you about our camping life: setting up and packing up camp, cooking, preparing packrafts for rafting, and our new camping gear. And of course, there'll be plenty of our friend Mars, because now all our hikes are with our dog.
