Warning: Do not attempt anything shown in this video. This content is for educational and entertainment purposes only. X-rays can cause radiation burns and increase cancer risk, and uranium is both radioactive and chemically toxic as a heavy metal.

In today’s video, I turn depleted uranium into X-ray film using an old photographic process that relies on the light-sensitive properties of certain uranium salts. The result is a set of radioactive X-ray images that contain real uranium, one of the most unusual elements used in imaging.

This project explores the science, history, and hazards behind uranium-based imaging chemistry. It is not intended as a guide, tutorial, or endorsement of any kind.

Enjoy!
