I really tried to put my heart and soul into making this travel video moving and to convey emotions and feelings from visiting Paris.
As you know, it's always a matter of balance between having holidays with family and obsession to shoot in such a motivating to film location and I'd like to thank my Jane for been so patient and empathetic having me filming in the middle of romantic evening just because the sunset was so picturesque :)
From the technical side I shot this piece on Canon 5DmarkII both in H264 codec and in raw using Magic Lantern and on my lovely Canon 7D which sometimes have given me slow motion when I needed it. As my country (Russia) really locked down many possibilities for me as filmmaker to buy new cameras (such as Sony a7S or similar) because of economy crisis, which is a real shame for such a rich in every aspects country, I decided to settle for what I had and push the image from these cameras in postproduction as far as I can mainly in terms of color/contrast/detailes and see what I can get. Having fall in love with raw files from 5Dmk2 while color grading in DaVinci Resolve, however, I have to admit that some shots really suffering from moire effect or aliasing. It's 5D markII desease. H264 was shot with Technicolor cinestyle picture profile on both cameras.
I also had my little Manfrotto tripod and Konova 60cm slider with me to get some dolly shots. Both are very good for travelling and fit nicely in my bag. It again proved me that for run and gun filming the less you carry the better you shoot :) Arguable, but it works!
