Bio:
mmmm... (mmmm.tv) is the collaboration of members Emilio Alarcón, Alberto Alarcón, Ciro Márquez, and Eva Salmerón, and is based in Madrid. The group has created projects for public space since 1998. The projects create social places for gathering, socializing, and fostering dialogue in small groups, and have included such activities as The Meeting Bowls, large objects shaped like bowls with seating to accommodate up to eight people (2011); members of an orchestra scattered about the streets simultaneously playing the same music (2009); and 100 couples kissing simultaneously throughout the crowds of the city center (2002).

Statement:
Action in a Dumpster (2000/04) documents a public intervention that took place over the course of a day in Madrid (2000) and in Belfast (2004), whereby a swimmer attempted to swim laps in a dumpster that has been converted to a pool. The video documents onlookers, who were both amazed and confused by this unusual scene. By creating an ad hoc swimming pool on a city street, mmmm... questions the conventions of what is and is not acceptable in the public realm.
